Can you identify this insect on my friend's apple tree, plum tree, and hardy kiwi?

Expert Response

I’m sorry but your photo does not have a high enough resolution to tell what these insects are. Many insects specialize and wouldn’t probably eat plums apples and hardy kiwis.

Can you get a better photo?

Hello again,

A colleague of mine steered me to the Flatheaded apple borer as a possible suspect here.

You best response to these is to do proper clean up around the tree and to make sure it gets consistent watering. That hasn’t been a problem this spring but we may be going into a dry spell.
