Something is eating the peas right out of our pods, pods are left. Peas all gone!!! What is doing this?

Expert Response

The larvae of the Pea Moth (Laspeyresia nigricana) will burrow into pea pods and eat the seed. Information in the link below:

The larvae of the Seedcorn Maggot (Delia platura) will also do this sort of damage:

The other possible pest of pea seed is the Pea Weevil (Bruchus pisorum):

If you have images of the feeding damage you can post, that would be helpful in determining if any of these pests are responsible for this damage.

Hello Neil,

So, this problem seems to be not random.
It was throughout the entire row of peas.
Wouldn't this say it was possibly something other than a pest?
Maybe the soil?
The seed?
Pollination?
A virus?
I'm sorry I don't have a photo to share with you.
Thanks for the info you sent!
