Hello! Thank you so much for your help and assistance! I was wondering if you could tell me what type of insect/ beetle this is? I haven’t ever seen one of this size (at least that I can recall!). Also, can it bite, pinch or hurt/ irritate humans and or pets (dogs, cats)? Again thank you so much for your time and help with this!! It’s greatly appreciated!

Hi, that is a red-backed darkling beetle (Eleodes suturalis). They are completely harmless, feeding only on decaying organic matter.
