What are these and how do I rid my garden of them? #876776

Asked July 11, 2024, 3:39 AM EDT

I have these catapillars under my hydrangeas that have tons of holes. I tried captain jacks for catapillars but, no luck. Any ideas?  They’re ruining my plants.

Thank you for your question.  Your photo is too "fuzzy" to identify the species that is infesting your hydrangea, and I see no leaf rolling.  So, I suspect you have one of those described here:  https://ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/GARDEN/PLANTS/INVERT/folfeedcater.html

Get rid of the caterpillars, and any leaves they have eaten.  Follow other recommendations in the article.  Good luck!
