Thanks for contacting Ask Extension.
Grasshoppers are indeed plaguing most gardens this time of year. Controlling them is difficult since they are plentiful and very mobile.
Netting or row covers over garden beds may mitigate their depredation.
The attached CSU Fact Sheet discusses possible controls, including baits and insecticides.
Baits coated with carbaryl can be effective, such as EcoBran.
Insecticides need to be used with care, you must always read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. They can harm pollinators and other beneficial insects as well as the pests, especially if sprayed on flowering plants.
