large brown patches on lawn #876677

Asked July 10, 2024, 1:25 PM EDT

Hello, on my back lawn some very large brown patches have developed and are growing bigger. I think it might be a fungus. I always get brown areas during the summer, but never this large. I have been watering it. Can you provide any advice? Thank you.

Take a look at this article and see if this fits.  There are some other useful articles online. Try a word search like “brown patch on summer lawn edu” or use “extension”. Another path for information is to go to “advanced search.com” and enter your word search at that site.  Another gambit: try Turf Grass Times at OSU. They have archives with a lot of information about all things turf grass. They have podcasts.
Finally there is a lab called the Wayne Ellet Plant Path lab which would take a sample and evaluate it for you for a fee. If you need additional ideas or resources please get back to me.
