This year we have had little green grasshoppers all over. They ate our Raspberry bushes, Clematis, and leaves on other plants. They do not like the weeds. What would we do to keep this from happening next year with all these grass hoppers-is there a pesticide we could use?
We live in Bennett Colorado and have farm animals but they do not get to our garden area, but I don't want to hurt the birds or pollinators either.
Thanks Patti

Hi Patti,
Thanks for reaching out. Grasshoppers are a very difficult insect to control.
See our fact sheet for some options (albeit not great, as NOLO bait is not available this year). If there are plants you want to protect like your raspberry or clematis, you can cover them, or plant tasty plants nearby.

They are definitely being problematic this year.
