Crape Myrtle insects #876632

Asked July 10, 2024, 10:49 AM EDT

I have an insect that appears to be eating the leaves on my crape myrtle. It may be Japanese Beetles, but I haven’t actually seen an insect on the tree. Any suggestions for treating the tree would be appreciated.

Expert Response

We agree that adult Japanese Beetles are a likely culprit, since very few insects chew on Crapemyrtle foliage. They will not cause serious damage to the plant and can be ignored, so treatment is not recommended.
