Expert Response

Hi Michael,

Thank you for reaching outto Ask Extension with your Oak question.

Unfortuneately, without pictures of your tree and it's leaves, it is impossible to help you figure out what is going on with your Oak tree. Can you please send some pictures? We would need a close up of the leaf damage you are seeing, and a picture of the entire tree and it's surroundings, and one of the trunk where it meets the ground, if possible.

In our region, Bur Oak Blight is not very common like some other diseases. Anthracnose on Oaks is more common. This year in particular, we have seen many cases of Oak Leaf Blister also which would be more possible than Bur Oak Blight. Here is more information about these Oak problems:

Is your Oak getting adequate supplemental water? Watering issues would also cause leaf browning, especially in the heat we have had the past month. There are a lot of causes of browning leaves on plants, so without pictures, we cannot pinpoint what might be causing this.  Please feel free to send your pictures to: <personal data hidden> and we can try to help you.

Thanks,

Dawn
