tough celery #876538

Asked July 09, 2024, 4:15 PM EDT

Why could my celery be so tough? I can barely cut it with a knife let alone chew it. I never imagined celery could be so tough.

Expert Response

Hi,

We suspect it is tough due to our high heat conditions. Celery is a cool weather crop and needs consistent water and fertilizer. Perhaps some afternoon shade would be helpful.

Have you grown it successfully before? There are different varieties you could try that are more tender. Do you know what variety you planted?
