White strings in cucumber plant soil #876506

Asked July 09, 2024, 12:50 PM EDT

Hello, I checked my cucumber plants and noticed these white strings in the soil. They were not there the day before. Is this mycelium or something else. Should I be concerned?

Expert Response

Hi Tamiko, thanks for the question.

Unfortunately, the detail of the picture isn't clear enough to identify the "strings".  Would it be possible to get a well-focused picture of the strings?   A well-focused closeup picture of a few of the "strings" on a solid-colored background would also help.  What did you use as a planting medium?   The picture of the whole plant shows some yellowing on the bottom leaves which could suggest a possible water problem.

I look forward to your response.
