Is this dahlia diseased? #876446

Asked July 09, 2024, 2:21 AM EDT

Hello, I wanted to know if you think this dahlia has dahlia mosaic virus (DMV)? About a week prior to this weekends heatwave I fedy dahlias some miracle grow. I noticed a couple of the plants had some light green in the leaves and wanted to give them a little boost. This one in particular still has some yellow/light green in the leaves. I googled DMV and it looks like this dahlia could have it..I got this tuber from a grower in camas (received others from her too and they appear fine). I don’t want it to cause issues with my other dahlias so I wanted to see if you what you guys think of the discoloration and what it could be. Thank you.

There is a good chance it is one of the virus diseases. See the ”Diseases and Pests” section of FS 95, Dahlias in Oregon. It includes a link to this pictorial guide of Dahlia virus symptoms. The look varies so much that I can’t really do more than you can with comparing photos.
Advice generally is to remove infected plants. Alerting the grower is a good idea, although you can’t be positive when the infection occurred.
