Zinnias with strange leaves #876347

Asked July 08, 2024, 2:11 PM EDT

I’m hoping you can help me figure out what’s going on with my zinnias. Most of my plants had some strange narrow, leathery and sometimes curly or cup-shaped leaves. With time, many of them have reverted back to producing normal leaves, but some still have the curly weird leaves. They are budding up like normal. I’m wondering about possible pesticide damage or disease. There’s no obvious sign of insects. Thanks!

Expert Response

Hi Amy,

The plants appear to have herbicide damage.  Someone near you may have been spraying herbicide on a windy day.  The drift may have landed on the leaves causing damage.  If this is the case the plants should recover.
