Tree {lanting #876323

Asked July 08, 2024, 12:08 PM EDT

I live in Oakdale and we back up to a marsh/wetland area. We want to plant some trees on the boarder of our property. We had a soil test done by the UoM and received the test results. However, I was hoping they would tell me what type of tree would do well in this environment. Can you please help us with the right trees to plant?

Hi Mark,

Your soil results are average, favoring trees that like neither alkaline or acid soils. You have a broad selection of trees to pick from.

See region 7 on this page:

While finding a tree that fits your soil conditions is important, don't forget to consider whether the site is full sun or shady, and how tall a tree will grow. If you have power lines on site, for example, you should pick a tree that won't grow so tall that it will have to be continually pruned.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
