What’s eating my clematis? #876309

Asked July 08, 2024, 11:10 AM EDT

The tender ends and leaves of my young evergreen clematis are getting nibbled off. What can I do? Thanks!

Expert Response

The leaf damage looks like some kind of munching insect. Are there slime trails that would indicate slugs? A caterpillar is possible, or some types of beetle. I suggest checking after dark and see if you can spot the culprit. There is nothing visible in the photos that would clearly diagnose one.
