Coneflower mites? #876214

Hello! I have two questions: 1) 2 coneflower plants, one next to the other. The one seems to be doing relatively well, but the other is not this year. From my online search, it looks like either mites or something eating it (the rabbits in my yard are crazy this year and eating the clematis and lilies in this area, so it wouldn’t surprise me). Thoughts on what it is and how to help address is/minimize the damage to other plants? 2) I have lilies of the valley that flower early. Can I plant something else among them that would flower later so that I don’t have the boring foliage the rest of the spring/summer? Still very new to this, so I appreciate any input! Thank you very much!!

Lily of the Valley planting. I would plant something that grows tall like iris, gladiolus, Jack in the Pulpit, etc. Hostas are another possibility especialy varigated leaf varities.
