Expert Response
The ground-hugging perennial works great as a ground cover. The plant prevents weeds from growing wherever it spreads. The creeping plant is fast-growing, and can become a nuisance if planted in the wrong area. Ajuga grows into a dense mat.
Ajuga spreads quickly through horizontal stems (solons) that creep across the ground. It can become aggressive and difficult to keep in bounds in some areas.

I’m still not clear. Does Ajuga spread By underground runners, like vinca does?
Yes. Horizonal stems called stolons.
Stolon is a horizontal plant stem or runner that takes root at points along its length to form new plants.
