what is happening to my bloodgood japanese maple #876109
Asked July 06, 2024, 1:49 PM EDT
My japanese maples were planted in the fall of last year. This year it has developed holes in the leaves. The whole tree is infected. I have sprayed it with fungicide and it has not helped. Do not want to lose them as they are beautiful trees. Any help greatly appreciated

Hi Jim,
This appears to be insect damage. Check both during the day and night for the presence of insects to try and determine which ones. At that point, you can make an informed decision on insecticides, if needed.
My best guess is Japanese Beetles. They leave that "lacy" appearance.
Thanks,
