Environmentally safe spider/ant home protection #876005

Asked July 05, 2024, 1:46 PM EDT

We wish to treat foundation of home to prevent ants and spiders with a product less toxic to environment, such as that used by so-called environmentally -friendly services in our area, whose services are priced beyond our budget. Any suggestions for safer but effective products?

Hello,
Here is some information about managing ants, and there is information included about treating the foundation of a home.

The products listed in this publication are pyrethroids which are typical insecticides. I am not sure what type of products the services promoting "environmentally friendly" sprays are using, but it is possible they may not be super effective, or may not meet your definition of environmentally friendly. I don't know of a non-toxic, yet effective alternative.

As stated in the publication using localized baits is less disruptive to the environment. If you can find where ants are coming in and block their access that would be an effective and environmentally friendly management method.
