What’s wrong with my Ginkgo? #875962

Asked July 05, 2024, 12:41 AM EDT

This ginkgo is 3 years old and up until this year has grown well, filled out, etc. This year it appears something is damaging most of the leaves. Gets sun much of the day. Help please?!

Expert Response

It is difficult to determine what is causing the damage on your ginkgo from the photos.  The best approach is to take a sample of a damaged branch that still has some healthy leaves as well as damaged ones on it to the OSU extension office in Astoria.  Place the sample in a plastic bag while transporting the samples.  The Master Gardeners working the plant clinic will be able to look at your sample under a microscope which will give them a better idea as to what is causing the damage.

Plant clinic hours are Tuesdays 9AM to 12PM and Thursdays 1PM to 4PM.  If you cannot bring your sample in during those hours you can leave it with the office personnel during regular daily business hours.

The Extension Office is at 2001 Marine Drive Room 210, Astoria.

Thank you for the question.
