My son lives in St. Mary's County, he has skunks that travel along the edge of his yard and the wood line. One single skunk and one mother with 4 babies, all of them are mostly white with a little black on the underside. Google says Maryland has striped skunks, which I have seen and are mostly black. ,Even though these skunks are white are they still striped skunks?

Expert Response
Striped Skunks have been documented throughout Maryland, and we've read that it's not unheard of for some individuals to have mostly-white bodies. Since we're not experts in skunk features and this is outside of the realm of our expertise, though, you can inquire with wildlife biologists at the MD Department of Natural Resources. An email can be sent to <personal data hidden> (especially if you want to share photos) or, if you would like to speak to someone, they have a Wildlife and Heritage Service phone number at<personal data hidden>. The phone line is staffed during regular business hours, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, except state holidays and weekends.
