Is this an American Carrion Beetle? #875892

We found this guy crawling inside of our home, our cat was eating him. Google images are a little confusing-all it shows are red beetles.

Your ID is spot on: American Carrion Beetle (Necrophia americana). The quickest way of dealing with these critters is to vacuum them up and dispose of the vacuum bag in the trash. Here is some information about it including other remedial measures:
