Delaware's fall planting season is from August to September, and it's a good time to plant cool-season vegetables and flowers
Vegetables
Many cool-season vegetables, like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, lettuce, and spinach, do best when they mature in cooler weather. You can also plant beets, which prefer cooler temperatures and well-drained sandy soil. Here are some tips for planting fall vegetables:
Broccoli: Transplant broccoli by mid-August, or early September for a quality crop.
Beets: Plant seeds 1–2 inches apart and 3–6 inches deep in moist, well-drained sandy soil with a pH between 6.5 and 7, when the soil temperature is 50–85º F.
Radishes: Plant radish seeds in containers 4–6 weeks before the first frost.
Spinach: Fall-planted spinach can survive the winter and be harvested in early spring.
Flowers
Flowers like alyssum, marigolds, nasturtium, and sunflowers can attract bees, birds, and other helpful insects
I've also attached a planting guide for a few vegetable plants. We are zone 7b, you can also Google "Delaware When to plant vegetables/perennials/shrubs/trees" for immediate information.
Good luck and HAPPY GARDENING!!
