Hello, Do the extension offices offer Fram management guidance?

Miami County Ohio

Expert Response

Hi Mark,

Yes, OSU Extension has farm management guidance on many areas and topics. Do you have a specific area or question?

Generally, we have resources to help with farmland leasing, budgeting, custom rate data for farming operations, farm tax education, ag law resources, farm financial and production record keeping, farm financial statements/documents for business analysis and benchmarking, estate planning and transition planning to the next generation, and more.  Our in-person and online educational efforts include these topics plus grain marketing, organic grains and a wide range of farm production system economics.  We work with farms and landowners of all sizes and experience to improve farm management skills and support informed decision making.

Our Farm Office website is: https://farmoffice.osu.edu/

I'm happy to answer any further questions you may have you can contact me directly at: <personal data hidden>

Hello Sir,  It is good to hear from you.  Your title is Extension Field Specialist.  Does that mean that you are a Miami county local?  I can read the materials, but I will have many more questions.

How do you prefer interactions, questions and answers?

Hi Mark,

My OSU Extension position is state-wide to support Ohio producers and OSU Extension County Ag Educators.  Miami County, OH has a great County Extension Ag Educator, Amanda Bennett who I work with on a few projects.  She and her county office can be reached at: https://miami.osu.edu/ or
<personal data hidden>.  Amanda is your local contact but I'm happy to work with you as well, of course.  My practice is to loop in the County Extension Ag Educator when requests from from their local county, out of professional courtesy.  I was a County Extension Ag Educator for 28 years in Defiance County before accepting the Field Specialist position in 2022.

Since we have made this connection, I'd recommend we correspond outside the Ask Extension system and just use email to get to specifics.  Feel free to contact Amanda or myself with specific/general questions.
