Is this a stag beetle? If so, what does it eat?

That is an adult stag beetle in the beetle family Lucanidae. The immature stage lives in decaying wood (e.g. rotting logs) and feed on the wood and microorganisms it contains. The adults don’t eat much, but they feed occasionally on sap, aphid honeydew, and leaves.
