Expert Response

Thanks for your question.

This leaf damage might be from a looper.  Here is some information that should be helpful - https://pnwhandbooks.org/insect/small-fruit/blackberry-raspberry/blackberry-raspberry-looper.

It might also be damage from the raspberry sawfly.  This is a link to information on that pest - https://ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/GARDEN/FRUIT/PESTS/raspsawfly.html

The best way to deal with it would be to hand pick any larvae seen on the plants.   You could also try giving the plants a good blast with the hose occasionally to try to dislodge any pests that may be on them.

If you choose to try any chemical control methods, ensure it is the correct one for that pest and follow all label instructions.  Also ensure that you don't apply any chemical control when plants are flowering and bees may be active.

Thank you so much! I will study those two articles and blast the plant with the hose.
