Expert Response

Hello!

I believe this is an Acuba plant?

Aucuba plants can become stressed such as when its roots become waterlogged and as a result the leaves and shoot tips turn black.  Is it possible that you have increased watering due to our very hot weather?

Here is two sites for more information;
https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/aucuba-japonica-variegata/
https://www.rhs.org.uk/problems/aucuba-blackening

If you have any other questions just let me know.

Good luck!
