tiny holes in pepper leaves #875750

Asked July 02, 2024, 10:41 PM EDT

Can you please help me identify what is creating these tiny holes in my plants? Mostly it's happening in my jalapeños, but I've seen some in the adjacent tomato, basil and radish leaves (all in the same raised bed). I haven't seen any insects, eggs, etc., on the stem, leaves or under the leaves.

Hi Alexia,

Some of this looks like four-lined plant bug damage. See this page:

https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/four-lined-plant-bugs

Flea beetles will make holes in radish, pepper and tomato leaves and those of other vegetables.

https://apps.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/vegetable/radish/leavesholes.html

The season for four-lined plant bug is almost over. Damage from both of these is usually tolerated without doing chemical control.

Hope this helps.
