This is the stalk from my dead houseplant. It had many branches with leaves. It came from my mom many years ago. Can anyone identify what it is?

Is this possibly the plant?  It's called a "Corn Plant", otherwise known as a Dracaena fragrans.

No, this was not a corn plant. It had beautiful leaves more like umbrellas.
