Hi! I have sour cherry, pear, and apple trees in my yard. How early can I prune those? I will be getting my roof and siding replaced and would like to prune the trees before the work but the contractor wants to start asap. Thanks!

Good Morning Erin,
Thank you for contacting the U of M Extension Service.
It would be better to prune your trees in late winter/early spring. Please click on the following link from the U of M Extension Yard and Garden website: https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/pruning-trees-and-shrubs
Here is another link about growing stone fruit: https://extension.umn.edu/fruit/growing-stone-fruits-home-garden.
Good Luck!
