We just recently purchased this prairie flowering crab from Gertens in Inver Grove Heights. We planted it according to the directions recently we noticed that the branches have new leaves at the end but are dying in the middle. It’s very strange so it has new growth but then also the middle is .

Expert Response
I apologize. Part of my message got cut off. The tree has been in the ground for about a month and a half. It was beautiful and flowering. After the flowers came off, the branches have been acting goofy if you look closely in the middle of many of the branches it’s dying off, but at the end of the branches there is new growth with bigger leaves. We thought maybe With all the rain something could’ve happened.
