what are these trees? #875496

Asked July 01, 2024, 1:08 PM EDT

Recently we spotted an extended thicket (multiple acres) of what struck us as bamboo crossed with birch. The trees were clumped very densely together and had grown to a rather uniform height of 6-10 feet. This was around 3 miles west of Walker, MN near the Shingobee section of Chippewa National Forest. Here are a few photos of these trees at different scales, which we’re hoping you could identify for us (ignore the few taller species thrown in). Would this species grow well in Minneapolis?

Thanks for the question!

Quaking Aspen.they probably reseeded themselves. Some will grow to be mature trees and some will not make it.
