What is wrong with my Sugar Maple tree and how should I treat it? Leaves on some branches have brown spots and are shriveling. Some branches also have spots on the branches.

The white spots are lichens. Lichen do not hurt the tree at all, and if you wetted the trunk while watering grass or the tree itself, it can encourage lichen to grow.
