Is orchardgrass hay pollinator friendly either as pasture for grazing or as hay for baling?

Hi Crow!

Hmm, that is a good question... Usually, grass isn't necessarily the best option if you're looking for pollinator habitat, but that is generally because it is kept short or cut before it goes to seed. However, if it isn't frequently cut short, grass can also be used as a nesting habitat and is good for butterflies and sometimes bees depending on the type.

Clover produces many flowers that pollinators love, so it could be helpful to add that to your mix, but it depends on the type of livestock grazing in that pasture. What type of livestock are you planning to have? Do you want to go more for the pollinator route, or more for livestock while keeping pollinators in mind?

I hope you're doing well, let me know if you have follow-up questions!
