Asked June 29, 2024, 7:20 PM EDT

Leaves are yellowing and dying. Plant is about 5 years old. Planted under Japanese maple, gets some filtered sunlight. 2 hostas planted in the other side of tree are thriving.

Expert Response

Hi Susan,
It's difficult to tell what is wrong without a photo.  Can you send one?
Typical causes for yellow Hosta leaves are too much sun and over watering.  Hosta are generally pretty disease resistant, but there are a couple of viruses that can affect them.  If that is the case, it might be wise to remove and dispose of it (do not compost it).
