Expert Response

Hi,

This is aegopodium, common name bishop’s weed or gout weed. The variegated plant is called snow-on-the-mountain. This plant is sometimes intentionally planted as a groundcover and it is aggressive.

You can try digging it up or use a herbicide to kill it. Follow the precautions on herbicide containers, apply on a still day and be careful around trees and desirable plants. The label is the law.

This document gives you a good overview:

Hope this helps.
