Mold on sour cherries #875202

Asked June 29, 2024, 9:39 AM EDT

I've had various bugs and worms I've had to deal with over the years, but this is a new one. I have two sour cherry trees, and the fruit on both of them has this powdery mold/mildew growing. Once there it spread quickly. There is no trace of issues on the leaves, branches, or trunk, but the fruit is all ruined. Picture attached. How to I combat this? Thanks in advance,

Hi ,

That is brown rot and we are seeing a lot of it this year.

Remove ALL spoiled fruit ( on the ground and tree). You want to get rid of anything that has the mold spores on it. Bag them and throw it in your trash. Watch the tree for anything that may fall off and clean it up before the spores can get into the ground and re-effect the tree next year.

Sorry about your situation, bummer, lot's of it going around this year.
