Every year my ginkgo drops its smelly yellow fruit in the fall. This year in June it’s dropping a hard green fruit. Why is this and will I also have the terrible smelly fall fruit as well?

It is not unusual for a tree to shed some excess immature fruit early in the season, especially when stressed. I am guessing that this is the immature fruit, and perhaps the tree was heat stressed or the fruit burden was very large so some of the excess was shed.
