I have several patches of bee balm in my garden, some is dying and some is doing well. I’m not sure what is going on with the dying patches. The stem turns black from ground level and that works its way up the stem and leaves turn yellow, then the plant dies. See pictures of the garden, the stem and the dead plant. Any thoughts? (All are getting similar water and sun). Thanks!

Expert Response
It looks like the plant is suffering from a fungal disease. If you want to replace the plant I would try growing the replacement in a pot and sinking the pot.
