Seriously Stumped #875086

Asked June 28, 2024, 11:10 AM EDT

Hello! We had an old ash tree fall in storm last nite. I’m guessing it had ash borer as branches were dieing & wood pecker was nibbling on it. Is there a special way we need to dispose of it? I thought maybe some of it could be fire wood but now I’m wondering if that might not be good either? Thanks in advance for your advice & input.

Thank you for asking.  I am giving you a link to the Dept of Ag posting on disposing of the wood.  You will find a couple live links when clicking on it in the material to guide you.  https://extension.umn.edu/tree-and-shrub-insects/emerald-ash-borer   https://www.mda.state.mn.us/best-management-practices-eab   Unless you are able to remove the bark, I would suggest you contact an arborist and have them chip the tree on site.  That is what our city is doing with ash trees removed.
