Camelia bush #874997

Asked June 27, 2024, 3:23 PM EDT

Less than 10% of my camellia has leaves like in the attachment. Is this a concern? If so, what should I do? (Organic, natural remedies preferred to pesticides, IF possible!) Thank you, Nancy

Expert Response

Thank you for your question, Nancy. I suspect that your plant has the following fungal infection:  https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/camellia-ramorum-leaf-blight-shoot-dieback
However, a reliable diagnosis can't be made outside of a lab.  I suggest that you submit your leaves to the OSU Plant Clinic for diagnosis:  https://bpp.oregonstate.edu/how-submit-plant-materials

Good luck!
