Unknown Bug #874906

Hi, any idea the type of bug in the photo?

Howard County Maryland

Expert Response

This looks like a female Eastern Dobsonfly, a common but infrequently-seen native insect. Like other night-flying insects, the adults can be distracted by and drawn to night lighting, so might turn-up near porch lights and other lit areas. Their larvae prey on other insects and live in fast-flowing streams.

Yes!  That's it!  It had gotten into my covered patio and seemed lethargic like it was sick or dying. I swept it up and put it outside in my grass.
