Horse pasture weed management spray schedule #874874

Asked June 26, 2024, 7:49 PM EDT

Is there a recommended weed spraying schedule for the management of small farm horse pastures in the mid-Willamette Valley? I am hoping to get a simple schedule of what to spray? And when? so that we get the maximum the weed-killing benefits for the dollars spent. Of course we are especially interested in controlling tanzy and false dandelion - which can both, be dangerous for horses. THANK YOU!

Hello,
There is not a spray schedule for weeds in pastures. The best way to reduce weed issues is to manage grazing so that a pasture isn't over grazed or compacted causing weed issues.

The timing of herbicides is going to depend on the plant's biology as well as the herbicide.

Below is some information on false dandelion and tansy:

There are some herbicides that manage both weeds. These are best applied in the fall or spring when these weeds are in the rosette stage.
