Brown spots on lawn #874597

Asked June 25, 2024, 10:29 AM EDT

Hi - we have had many brown spots develop over the last couple of weeks on our lawn. We do not use any fertilizers, weed killers, etc. We are guessing it is from grubs. Could someone pleasegive us a more educated diagnosis? Thank you.

Good Morning Rochelle,

Thank you for contacting the U of M Extension Service.

This information states:

  • Japanese beetle grubs are pests of turfgrass. They chew grass roots, causing the turf to brown and die. Grub-damaged turf pulls up easily from the soil, like a loose carpet.
