Asked June 25, 2024, 10:14 AM EDT

I recently had planted a Magnolia acuminata. Now reddish brown spots have developed on many leaves. Please let me know what could have caused this. And what should be done. Thank you

Expert Response

Hi.  Thank you for your question.  Several questions for you:  How old is the tree.  Can you send a photo of the entire tree in the landscape?  When did the leaf spots first appear on the tree.  Where is it located in the landscape?  What type of soil is it planted in?  I have also provided general  information about the tree species below.  Most magnolia do not have a lot of disease problems.  It could be an environmental response to growing conditions.  I look forward to your response.
