Hi,
Are you able to send me any pictures of your trees? It's difficult to diagnose what the issue may be without seeing them. It's helpful to have a close up photo of the issue and a wider shot show the environment the plants are growing in. You can add these using the blue square at the bottom of the dialog box where it says "choose them". You can send up to 3 photos at a time.
In the meantime, here are a couple of publications about issues Maples can have in Michigan.

Thank you for these photos. After seeing these, the issue does not look disease related to me. Does this area ever flood or have standing water? Sometimes if trees are not well suited for a flood plain they may not thrive. They have problems getting adequate nutrition and oxygen to the roots when the soil is inundated with water. If this is the case, there's not much to be done except to plant species there that can tolerate those conditions.

If this area is not particularly wet, I'd recommend doing a soil test in that area since what you're seeing may be related to soil pH or nutrition.
