diseased plants? #874479

Asked June 24, 2024, 3:38 PM EDT

Last year and this year, several of the plants in our front yard seem to be partially shriveled or much smaller than they have been. What could be causing this?

Expert Response

Hi Lisa,

The peony and the hydrangea look like they may have herbicide damage to the leaves.  I don't see any damage on the hostas.  Have you or your neighbor sprayed herbicide recently (weed killer on the lawn)?  Another possibility is the late cold freeze we had this spring.  The plants started to leaf out, then froze in the heavy frost.  Trim off the damaged plant leaves and/or branches.
