My zucchini is browning #874472

Asked June 24, 2024, 3:21 PM EDT

This is my first year having a garden in Minnesota, and I’ve noticing that while I have a lot of male and female blossoms, my poor zucchini that I’ve been watching and so excited about is now turning brown on the bottom. Can you help?

Expert Response

This is probably the effect of too much water and we can’t do anything about that. We have all had a lot of rain.

Don’t give it extra water at this time. Plants do need to dry out a bit between waterings. Always check the top 2 inches of soil and when that is dry you can add water. — if we move into a dry spell.

Clean up and remove any dying or rotting fruit.
