Can you help us save our Hindu Pan Blue Spruce tree? #874464

Asked June 24, 2024, 2:55 PM EDT

We purchased two trees three years ago, one is thriving (on the north side of our house while the other (south side of the house) is looking sicker by the day in comparison-less green color, thinner and more brown needles, cones that look to be stunted and not fully formed. (Photos included.) Thank you for any advice to help support its health. We love this tree!

Expert Response

I'm sorry, but I can't diagnose your "blue spruce" based on photos.  It could be a needle disease, it could be winter dieback. It could even be herbicide drift.  I suggest you contact a certified arborist to look at your tree:

By the way, 'Hindu Pan Blue Spruce' is technically not a spruce; it is a pine (Pinus sylvestris):

This might be important because spruce and pine get different diseases.
