Peas,please! #874444

Asked June 24, 2024, 1:35 PM EDT

Have successfully grown Green Arrow peas here at the coast for 50 years Last year had nearly total crop failure. Bought seeds from a different source. We have planted twice now. The peas come up,then just disappear. A grower across the highway saves his pea seed but is having the same results He has planted 5times! What is going on?!

Expert Response

Dear Cookieb,

We are noticing the same thing. This prolonged mild weather is causing the animals to look to other places for food. There is increased animal activity such as voles pulling them under or rabbits pulling from the top. If you have any remains that can reveal the damage pattern then I could give you a better answer. Try to see if you have better luck growing them in containers.

Good luck!
